Dear readers and all in intellectual community globally extended, we in the University of Darussalam, GONTOR (UNIDA-GONTOR) in Indonesia have launched this academic journal of deep import for all who think along lines of new epistemic future for the wellbeing of planetary existence in mind and matter pursuits. This is the newly launched Journal of Critical Realism in Socio-Economics (JOCRISE). The journal is being published by UNIDA-GONTOR Press. We are calling for advanced scholarly contributions for refereed publication in the quarterly issues of this journal.

We are inviting learned contributions from all spectrum of our academic, scholarly and intellectual peers for refereed publication in JOCRISE. We look forward to you activating your mind, efforts, time and pen in the project of this new direction of planetary future in the most diverse of fields.

The continuing JOCRISE issues will be produced quarterly throughout the calendar year. Each such issue is expected to comprise four-to-five learned refereed contributions. The editors will provide a learned editorial on critical realism to each issue pertaining to the specific topics of socio-economics.

No such competing research and reading materials on paradigm studies of critical realism in socio-economics presently exists ever since the idea was advanced by the British sociologist, economist and philosopher, Roy Bhaskar. JOCRISE aims in traversing its path beyond the realms of separateness between ontology and epistemology into the realm of unity of being and becoming via continuity by recursive dynamics between ontology and epistemology and ontology and so on. This may be referred to as the study of episteme or of the epistemic nature of reality at the core. The World and the Universe, no matter how small or vast these comprehensions may be, have their meaningful existence by its coexistence and explanations at the core of reality. That is of unity of knowledge and its embedding in the world-system by its generality and particulars. Thereby, the realm of socio-economic studies and beyond into socio-scientific studies cannot have meaning at any claimed regal separation of disciplinary sophistication without offering the common wellbeing and planetary coexistence of the mind-matter ethical inclusiveness of science, society, individuality and other.

The papers published in this launching issue of JOCRISE articulate the opening into such bold yet most meaningful context of epistemic knowledge. Reality lies not in the particular constructs of nature, world, self and other in their perceptions. Therefore, reality is to be sought not in the concretizing of the societal claim on its ‘isms’. Rather, reality lies in extracting by degrees in the humble and sure evolutionary march from the lesser to higher levels of comprehensions, application and subdued humility of knowing the true reality in the world of mind-matter and the diversity of the universe. Indeed, just as development studies is multidimensional in its content, so also is socio-economics a particular metauniverse for substantive inquiry.
